How the Blades and Birdies Tournament Helps Support Eagles Hockey
This summer the Innisfail Eagles swap skates for golf shoes for one of the organization’s biggest fundraisers of the year and is a major part of helping support senior hockey in Innisfail by bringing together local businesses, fans, volunteers, sponsors and players for a day that mixes golf, hockey culture and community spirit.

The Eagles are run almost entirely through volunteer effort. From organizing games and securing sponsorships to preparing the arena, planning events, coordinating travel, promoting the team, and handling game-day operations, countless hours go into keeping the organization moving throughout the season.
Tournament proceeds help offset costs connected to things like:
- Ice rentals
- league and operational expenses
- player and team support
- travel
- equipment and training resources
- fan experience initiatives
- community support initiatives
Like many senior hockey organizations across Alberta, community support is a major piece of the puzzle. Local sponsorships, fundraising events, volunteers, and fans all contribute to keeping teams like the Eagles on the ice year after year - and it allows the Eagles to give back to the community too.
Blades & Birdies Community Golf Tournament
Last year’s event sold out quickly, and another strong turnout is expected this summer. Every registration, sponsorship, donation, and auction item helps support the upcoming season and contributes to the continued growth of Eagles hockey in the community. Golfers can expect a laid-back day where hockey meets golf. They can connect with local businesses, enjoy good food, cold drinks, contests, prizes - and feel good about supporting their home town team.
