The Innisfail Eagles travelled to Lethbridge on Saturday November the 6th to take on the undefeated Lightning.  The Lightning had come off a huge 7-5 win against Fort Macleod on Friday night to start their season at 4 – 0. For your Birds, it was their second game of the young season and this was going to prove to be a good test against a strong Lightning team.
Both teams came out quick and the pace was unrelenting for both sides. The Eagles used every opportunity to get pucks towards the net and through traffic towards Dean Skidmore who got the start in the Lethbridge goal. Hayes, Crone, and Robinson were credited with the three first period goals. Strong defence kept the Lightning shots from the outside and Eagles goaltender Kyle Frazier handled confidently. The Lighting came out hard in the second period and the opportunities around the net were much more balanced. The Eagles managed two goals from Hayes while Lethbridge were able to score 3 on your Birds. The score after two periods of play was 5-3 Innisfail.
In the third, the Lightning struck first bringing the score to 5-4 in the third minute. The Eagles regrouped and refocused their efforts to start taking the flow back to the Lightning. The result was a flurry of 7 goals giving Innisfail the win. Quinton Lisoway scored the hat trick in addition to another Hayes goal, two from Jordan Cullum, and one from Kyle Sheen.
The Eagles continue on the road in Siksika Saturday, November 20th and in High River to face Nanton on Saturday, the 27th. The Eagles will open at home on December 4th against Fort Macleod.
